National Hot Buttered Rum Day

"It's hot buttered rum! I feel so festive! [takes a drink] Ugh! It's awful! It takes like warm rum with butter in it!" - Grace Adler

It's Hot Buttered Rum Day!

I've never had the opportunity to try a hot buttered rum before. For that matter, I've never had a cold buttered rum either. Actually, besides being one of the Morganettes (a Captain Morgan's Girl and the inspiration for today's photo), I haven't really had too much of any interaction with rum.

Until tonight... hot buttered rum stems from Colonial America in the mid-1600s. Jamaica was exporting molasses, there was a distillery on every block of New England, and drinking was cheap. So, in the tradition of New Englanders from generations past, I downed a mug of the stuff.

Happy National Hot Buttered Rum Day!
