National Peanut Butter Day

"Nothing takes the taste out of peanut butter quite like unrequited love." - Charles Schultz

It's National Peanut Butter Day!

Peanut butter is an impressive food, in my opinion. It's high in fiber (which helps keep our bowels healthy - and, I'm ALL about that!) and protein (which builds and repairs muscles), meaning when you eat it you feel fuller longer. It's also a super easy way to reduce risk of heart disease because it contains monounsaturated fats.

And peanut butter has been around longer than you might think. It’s believed that the Aztecs actually mashed peanuts into a thick paste. I’m not sure what they were doing with it or eating it with, but I’m guessing it wasn’t one of the following ways:

- Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
- Peanut butter and banana grilled sandwiches
- Peanut butter and cheese sandwiches
- Peanut butter and chocolate anything
- Peanut butter and apples
- Peanut butter in spicy Thai sauces
- Peanut butter and pretzels
- Peanut butter and tuna fish sandwiches
- Peanut butter in celery topped with raisins

Do you have any crazy awesome peanut butter combinations?

Happy National Peanut Butter Day!
