National Peppermint Patty Day

"This peppermint winter is so sugar sweet/I don't need to taste to believe!" - Owl City

It's National Peppermint Patty Day!

When I was in seventh grade my French teacher called me "Peppermint Patty," because I looked and acted a lot like the character from Peanuts. I had short reddish hair, freckles, wore flip-flops every day, and a hippie/tomboyish personality.

That really has nothing to do with today... chocolate covered patties of peppermint, which are delicious. Especially when ice cold. Yummo, Chuck. More on point, the most commonly known peppermint patty - York - was created in 1940 by Henry C. Kessler who started the company (then called York Cone Co.) twenty years earlier.

And now you're all the wiser, foodies!

Happy National Peppermint Patty Day!
