National Cheese Fondue Day

"Wine and cheese are ageless companions, like aspirin and aches, or June and moon, or good people and noble ventures." - MFK Fisher

It's National Cheese Fondue Day!

Sponsored byChicago Vegan Foods

I've never had fondue (I missed that whole craze by a decade or two).

But tonight's the night to change all that!

Tonight I'm celebrating with sort of a modern version of the stuff: I'm using beer and Chicago Vegan Food's creamy cheddar Teese vegan sauce. It's a 100% dairy and gluten-free, soy-based alternative to dairy cheese. And according to the package it's perfect for mac & cheese, melting over veggies, fondue, and topping a baked potato.

Also, I love the "better for animals; better for you" saying they put on their product. *swoon*

According to their website, Chicago Vegan Foods started in the winter of 2002 and was just a weekend hobby for co-founders Ryan Howard and Dan Ziegler. By 2004, business blew up and they moved into a bigger facility (the same one they're in now). Chicago Vegan Foods makes some of "the most innovative and best-tasting vegan products on the market." Don't take my word for it, though. Just look at the slew of awards they've won.

Or don't, and just take my word for it: it's incredibly sexy tasting. Did I mention that? Did I mention how much I want to rub Teese all over my body? No? Oh . . . well, I do. I'm continually impressed with how much it acts like and tastes like the "real" stuff. What am I gonna do when my supply of it runs out?! WHAT WILL I RUB ON MY BODY THEN?!

Happy National Cheese Fondue Day!
