National Cherry Dessert Day

"Neither give cherries to pigs nor advice to a fool." - Irish Proverb

It's National Cherry Dessert Day!

Every now and then my mom has been known to make these little Danish-type things with cream cheese and fruit. They're a total mouthgasm - flaky, buttery, velvety, and sweet. Accompanied with a good cup of coffee, a little fresh fruit on the side, and time spent with someone you love? It's a moment not worth missing. And that's how I'm celebrating today, but by using fresh cherries!

The fruit was brought to the U.S. by settlers in the seventeenth century; the original set of cherry trees were grown in Michigan in the mid-1800's (did you know?: Eau Claire, MI is known as "The Cherry Pit Spitting Capital of the World").

And now you're all the wiser, foodies.

Happy National Cherry Dessert Day!
