National Orange Juice Day

“A man ought to carry himself in the world as an orange tree would if it could walk up and down in the garden, swinging perfume from every little censer it holds up to the air." - Henry Ward Beecher

It's National Orange Juice Day!

Oh, orange juice. Beloved, go-to option for most people every day around the world, of course you deserve your own food holiday! Did you know that nearly 80% of Amur-KAH's OJ comes from Florida-grown oranges? Or that - according to our government's FDA standards - a cup of orange juice is allowed to contain 10 fruit fly eggs and 2 maggots? Who knew you were getting so much protein in your fruit juice, eh?

If you're (still) celebrating today (after reading that), what's your favorite way to drink OJ? Some of my preferred OJ combinations include:
- Orange juice with a side of chocolate brownies
- Orange juice with a side of melted peanut butter on toast
- Orange juice with a side of bacon (no, seriously)
- Orange juice mixed with vodka, aka a "Vodjuska"
- Orange juice mixed with champagne
- Orange juice mixed with ginger ale

I attempted to make my own OJ today (sans a juicer, mind you). I cut up chunks of peeled oranges, tossed them into my blender, and hit the "on" switch. I then poured it through a mesh strainer and was left with some seriously concentrated, thick OJ. A shot of this first thing in the AM (with the help of a little Emergen-C)? My immune system is feeling invincible.

Happy National Orange Juice Day!
