National Hazelnut Cake Day

"A lot of movies are about life, mine are like a slice of cake." - Alfred Hitchcock

It's National Hazelnut Cake Day!

Let's talk hazelnuts filberts hazelnuts.

Why are hazelnuts also called filberts? Legend has it, it's because they mature near St. Philibert's Day - he was monastic founder - in England around mid-August.

And here's a fun a fact: hazelnuts are the official state nut of Oregon (it was designated as such in 1989); they grow around 99% of the States crop!.

How will you celebrate today? My from-scratch cake was made with hazelnut flour, hazelnut milk, and hazelnuts themselves. I think that just about nails today, no?

Happy Hazelnut Cake Day!
