National French Fries Day

"I went into a McDonald's yesterday and said, "I'd like some fries." The girl at the counter said, "Would you like some fries with that?"" - Jay Leno

It's National French Fries Day!

I'm a little in love with Ian's Natural Foods. I've been singing their praises since National Onion Ring Day. There were just so light, crispy, and flavorful that I developed a school girl crush on them instantly. I've never tried any of there other products, so for today I was excited to get the chance to indulge on their "Alphatots," which are allergen free (read: no wheat, gluten, casein, eggs, nuts, soy, or any other junk we shouldn't be ingesting) alphabet-shaped potato fries.

They are delicious.

And they are fun.

The moment I opened the bag, some inner little kid instinct immediately made me reach for all the letters that spelled my name. And then, of course, I had to alphabetize all of the letters I had so that I could count up which ones I had the most of (D's and Y's, by the way; and no R's at all). This was all while they were still frozen! When they started thaw and get mushy, I remembered that I was playing with food. Into the oven, then into my belly, they went. When I first saw them, they reminded me of those smiley face-shaped fries. Unlike them, though, these aren't greasy, they don't feel heavy sitting in the tummy, and they're much airier/crispier.

And did I mention they spell stuff? LIKE YOUR NAME?!

Again, I encourage you to check out Ian's Natural Foods. You can tell they're a company that make an effort to ensure that people of all ages and all dietary restrictions can still eat nostalgic finger-type foods.

Happy National French Fries Day!
