International Beer Day

“You can’t be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline." - Frank Zappa

It's International Beer Day!
(Please note: this is a floating food holiday. It usually occurs on the first Saturday of August each year.)

Who doesn't love coming together to raise a pint for... well, raising a pint and the people who pour them, too?

International Beer Day was founded in 2007 by beer enthusiast Jesse Avshalomov and his friends Evan Hamilton, Aaron Araki, and Richard Hernandez. Today it's run by Avshalmov and Hamilton, and according to their website, there are three principle points to International Beer Day:

"1) To gather with friends and enjoy the deliciousness that is beer.
2) To celebrate the dedicated men and women who brew and serve our beer.
3) To bring the world together under the united banner of beer, by celebrating the beers of all nations and cultures together on this one remarkable day."

So buy a friend a beer, let a friend buy a beer for you, tip your bartenders big, take a brewery tour and high five the people who work there, and check out International Beer Day on both Facebook and Twitter to stay up date on the latest information!

Happy International Beer Day!
