National Corned Beef Hash Day

“Kids are without a doubt the most suspicious diners in the world. They will eat mud (raw or baked) rocks, paste, crayons, ball-point pens, moving goldfish, cigarette butts, and cat food. Try to coax a little beef stew into their mouths and they look at you like a puppy when you stand over him with the Sunday paper rolled up." - Ermma Bombeck

It's National Corned Beef Hash Day!

Corned beef hash is the result of rationing fresh meat around World War II. Hormel claims they introduced corned beef hash to the U.S. in the 1950's... unfortunately for them, "hash" has been in the American diet since at least the 1800's.

And now you're all the wiser, foodies (and fatter if you ate that whole pan of corned beef hash [multiple slices of cinnamon raisin toast, an apple, some juice...] you made like I know some people did today *points to self in shame*)!

Happy National Corned Beef Hash Day!
