National Mousse Day

Pudding and mousse. So alike, yet so different.

Much like ice cream and gelato, mousse and pudding - while similar - differ because of the amount of air that gets incorporated into mousse due to the introduction of whipped cream or beaten egg whites which are gently folded into the puddling-like ingredients.

I was really excited that Manitoba Harvest wanted to support my endeavor to eat the year on National Mousse Day. They sent me dark chocolate hemp protein powder - something I can honestly say I've never had before. I haven't really explored the world of hemp foods, so I'm excited that I get to dip my toe in the water (before cannonballing in!) with something that has chocolate in it! This delicious and nutritious protein powder is a raw food that's filled with protein (obviously), fiber, 10 essential amino acids, and is a natural source of Omega-3 and Omega-6 made with fair-traded ingredients.

And did I mention it has chocolate in it? Dark chocolate? Organic dark chocolate?

Seriously, what's not to love?

Since I'm addicted to the way beets and chocolate taste together, I thought I'd celebrate today by making a mousse that featured both flavors. It came out a little runnier than I expected, but it was still delicious. I imagine anything you put their Dark Chocolate Hemp Protein Powder will be (I plan on trying it next in a strawberry, spinach smoothie)!
