National Peanut Butter Fudge Day

"Fudge is a noun, a verb, an interjection, and delicious!" - Terri Guillemets

It's National Peanut Butter Fudge Day!

"I fudged up," is the nicer way of saying the R-rated version of "I messed up," right?

And - wouldn't you know - it's actually a correct use of the word. Legend has it that back in the 19th century, folks used to say "fudge" when they meant "to mess up." Supposedly, a chef messed up a batch of caramels one day and accidentally created what we now know as fudge.

Some mistakes are epic wins.

With my history of fudge making (every food holiday this year, my fudge has turned out more like a goopy ice cream topping), I probably should have just gone to the candy store and bought some. But I've been craving a certain flavor profile lately... and I really need to conquer my fears of fudge (which is an art that seems to elude me).

So I crafted a peanut butter, fake bacon, maple glaze fudge that was a little too delicious... and realistic tasting, too!

Happy National Peanut Butter Fudge Day!
