National Pizza With Everything Except Anchovies Day

It's National Pizza with Everything Except Anchovies Day!

Today is not for the faint of heart, because it's all about celebrating pizza with absolutely any and everything you can think of (except anchovies that is - who wants fishiness overpowering all the other awesome flavors of a pizza anyway?)

So what will you put on top of your pie today?

Maybe a "BLT" style 'za with ranch dressing, sliced tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and prosciutto, topped with fresh, shredded lettuce before being served?

Or how about a Philly Cheesesteak pizza? One that has gooey cheese, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, and steak shreds. That could be good.

I make a pretty mean vegan pizza with potatoes, leeks, fake bacon, and a "cream" sauce. Perhaps I'll whip that up again.

Or you could try a pizza with any of the following combination of things...
Mashed potato, bacon and scallion
Cauliflower, ricotta and mashed potato
Butternut squash, ricotta and cranberry
Pulled pork and mango
Baby spinach, chicken and asiago
(any of the above which you find at one of my favorite places in Portland, ME: OTTO)

For me, today is ALL ABOUT being creative and not eating "just cheese" or "pepperoni." So, I went with smoked tomatoes, taleggio cheese, smoked tomato sauce, and leeks with fresh arugula on top from a local place called Bonobo.

With no anchovies, of course.
