National Vanilla Cupcake Day

"Cupcakes! So sweet and tasty! Cupcakes! Don't be too hasty! Cupcakes! Cupcakes, cupcakes, CUPCAKES!" - Pinkie Pie in "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic"

It's National Vanilla Cupcake Day!

Does life get any sweeter?

Where exactly does the name "cupcake" come from, though? There are two possibilities, one more likely than the other:
1. Before muffin tins were invented and available to the masses, miniature cakes were often made in individual cups.
2. "Cup cakes" were cakes that were made with ingredients measured by the cup full. And as the years went by, these recipes became known as "1234 cakes," because they were made of four ingredients: one cup butter, two cups sugar, three cups flour, and four eggs.

Today, I'm celebrating with Massutera. And while I'm not a huge vanilla anything fan, these cupcakes were... glamorous. I know it seems so silly to explain a cupcake this way, but they were. Some companies try and overcompensate for the gentleness of vanilla by shoving in a tremendous amount of artificial flavors that are assaulting to the senses. Not Massutera. Their cupcakes smell intoxicating and taste very, very smooth. I ate two. I feel no shame. You know why? Because Massuetra doesn't put ANY gunk in their goods: they're totally vegan. And totally delicious.

Happy National Vanilla Cupcake Day!
