National Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk Day

“Never cry over spilt milk, because it may have been poisoned.” - WC Fields

It's National Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk Day!

Believe it or not, variations of this national food holiday have been happening in my house multiple times a week for over four years. Rabbits are naturally inquisitive little creatures. And Boone, my furry friend, is no exception. He loves nothing more than to investigate a beverage when it's placed on the ground before promptly head-butting it so it tips over, spilling its contents everywhere. In just the past month he's knocked over three cups of coffee, a cup of tea, a glass of orange juice, a can of soda, and every day this week, my water bottle. This used to frustrate me so much, but I've learned to just live with it. It's in his nature to behave this way, and if at this point I'm forgetful enough to put my open drink on the ground, then I deserve what I get (which is usually just a few minutes of extra cleaning). It's really, really not a big deal.

That's what today is all about: not letting little things get under your skin and ruin your day. Because really? Most of it's just not worth it. Life is too short. Bad things - however big or small - are absolutely going to happen. It's up to you to keep fighting the good fight with your chin up and fists out.

And for the record, the carton of soymilk you see in the picture above wasn't on the floor for more than ten seconds before Boone pushed it over. Only, before he had the opportunity to splash around in it, he was whisked away from the crime scene. Don't be fooled by the "innocent" face you see above!

Time to clean it up and move on.

Happy National Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk Day!
