National Oatmeal Nut Waffles Day

"He gave her a look that you could have poured on a waffle." - Ring Lardner

It's National Oatmeal-Nut Waffles Day!

If you're looking for a seriously good breakfast, look no further. Oatmeal-nut waffles might not be the most popular waffle option, but it's definitely one of the more healthy. Oatmeal is known for lowering cholesterol and blood pressure, stabilizing sugar levels, and reducing the risk of diabetes. And nuts? They're full of fiber, protein, and good fats (which are also good for lowering cholesterol and protecting the heart). So if you're used to thinking of waffles as a sinful breakfast item, you my want to reconsider when they're paired with super foods like oatmeal and nuts.

You may have difficulty finding these in the frozen foods aisle of your local grocer, so you may need to consider making your own or come up with a creative alternative. Today I celebrated with oatmeal waffles smeared with a homemade "Nutella" spread and drizzled with maple syrup. A side of fresh fruit and a cuppa? What a perfect way to eat today!

Happy National Oatmeal-Nut Waffles Day!
