National Poultry Day

"An election is coming. Universal peace is declared, and the foxes have a sincere interest in prolonging the lives of the poultry." - George Eliot

Today is National Poultry Day!

Think ducks, emus, geese, swans, squabs, ostriches, pigeons, turkeys, pheasants, oh... and chickens, of course! Chickens are one of the top three most consumed meats in the entire world. Instead of eating these lovely domesticated birds, though, why not use today to celebrate their lives instead? After all, studies have shown that chickens are actually very smart animals (smarter than even cats or dogs, they have REM sleep-cycles (meaning they dream), and have an excellent memory, too. I can think of no better way to enjoy today than to ditch the animal protein and go with "garden protein" from my friends at Gardein!

Happy National Poultry Day!
