National Tater Day

It's National Tater Day!

Potatoes have been integral throughout history - consistently they rank as one of the top producing crops in the world (behind wheat, corn, and rice that is). Not only are they durable, but they're starchy-nature is tremendously filling, too. That's one of the reasons they were a primary food source for many working class families during the nineteenth century. Potatoes have medicinal qualities to boot including alleviating sunburns, helping to lessen dark circles under the eyes (yes, please!), and are even thought to prevent indigestion.

And now you're all the wiser, foodies.

There are loads of potato-related food holidays throughout the year including (just to name a few): National Potato Chip Day on March 14th and National Potato Day on October 27th. What can I say? We are a country that loves the spud, also affectionately known as the "tater."
