National Egg Day

"Probably one of the most private things in the world is an egg until it is broken." - MFK Fisher

It's National Egg Day!

Today is one of those food holidays you probably celebrated without even trying to. Seriously! Egg has a sneaky way of appearing in all manner of foods these days from chips to dressings, canned soups to nougats, pasta, meatballs, and sometimes even in wine, too. So - good job!

But what if you wanted to deliberately eat eggs? Why you could make an omelet or a scramble, eat egg salad or eggs in a salad. Quiche, nog, custard, or baked goods are options today, too. Eggs are also delicious poached, fried, deviled, steamed, baked, sunny side-up, or soft boiled (what else are you going to dip your "soliders" in?). And if unfertilized embryos aren't your thing, tofu makes an excellent substitute in scrambles (*drool*), as egg salads (*noms*), and even in some baked good recipes (as Pooh would say: "there's a rumbly in my tumbly!").

So now the question is... how exactly will you celebrate today?

Happy National Egg Day!
