Chopsticks Day

“Marriage is like twirling a baton, turning hand springs or eating with chopsticks. It looks easy until you try it.” - Helen Rowland

It's Chopsticks Day... in Japan, that is.

But still - we can celebrate here, too, right?

Chopsticks Day has been in effect since 1980, it's a way to celebrate the usefulness and importance of chopsticks in day-to-day life. Citizens go to the Hie Shrine in Tokyo, Japan to toss chopsticks into a fire while praying for health.

And now you're all the more cultured wiser, foodies!

Probably the best way to go about this food holiday is by not starting random bonfires to burn your utensils. I would suggest supporting your favorite local Asian restaurant and honoring the day by using a pair of chopsticks over a fork.

Happy National Chopsticks Day!
