International Eat an Apple Day

"Love doesn't grow on trees like apples in Eden - it's something you have to make. And you must use your imagination too." - Joyce Cary

It's International Eat an Apple Day!

During the months of September and October, I definitely don't need to be reminded that "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" as apples are pretty much the only thing in my diet. Apple dumplings, apple sauce, apple donuts, apple cider, apple squares, caramel apples, apple crisp, apple pie, apples with cheese, apples with peanut butter, apples by themselves... yes, please.

The little fruit has a ton of good things going on besides it's taste and culinary versatility. It's a fat-free food that's filled with antioxidants (and who doesn't love a healthy immune system), can help decrease the risk of certain cancers and asthma, lowers cholesterol, and helps regulate both sugar levels and - ahem - regularity, too.

Personally, I'm pretty unbiased when it comes to my pommes (except for Red Delicious that is...nooooooooo, thank you). Honeycrisp, Gala, Braeburn, Cortlands, Macs?

Anyone else madly in love with apple season?

Happy International Eat an Apple Day!
