National Blueberry Popsicle Day
It's National Blueberry Popsicle Day!
Maybe it's me, but when I think of blue colored popsicles the first flavor that comes to mind is blue-raspberry, not blueberry. And if I had to list popsicle flavors in a Family Feud style contest I would come up with orange, cherry, grape, lime, root beer, even cotton candy, but definitely not blueberry. Which is a shame, because blueberry popsicles are definitely delicious.
Popsicles were created by accident. Eleven-year old Frank Epperson in 1905 left his drink with a stirring stick in outside overnight. The next morning he discovered the frozen concoction and called the treat an "Epsicle" (the name was changed to "Popsicle" and the idea patented in the early 1920's).
Whether you make your own (there are loads of recipes online for blueberry-lemon, blueberry-greek yogurt, even blueberry-acai flavored options... most of which you need a popsicle mold for, though), or buy them from the grocery store, have a...
