National Crème de Menthe Day

“It is the destiny of mint to be crushed." - Waverly Lewis Root

It's National Crème de Menthe Day!

What is sometimes ectoplasm green in color and leaves your breath fresh? Why, crème de menthe, of course! French for "mint cream", it's a mint-flavored adult beverage. It's often used in recipes and most famously a Grasshopper (made from crème de menthe, crème de cacao, and cream).

I've known how I was going to celebrate today since the beginning of this year when I joined Pinterest. I started a board called "I <3 Booze" which features the, *ahem*, adult beverages I'd like to get around to imbibing on. The number one pin on that board?: "The Dirty Girl Scout" from Tumblr site This Bottle of Vodka. This drink features Bailey's, (chocolate) vodka, white crème de menthe, and Kahlua.

As promised, it tastes just like Thin Mint cookies. And can you eat just one of those? No. So how do you expect to drink just one of these? You can't.  So, consider me a very dirty girl, because I definitely got down with more than just one of these drinky-drinks.

Happy National Crème de Menthe Day!
