National Mocha Day

"I have measured out my life with coffee spoons." - T.S. Eliot

It's National Mocha Day!

I think a Mocha Frappuccino® was the very first "mocha" drink I ever had. My mom brought me to Barnes & Noble where thre was a Starbucks cafe inside. I was in my early to mid-teens, and my mom allowed me to get any coffee drink that I wanted. The Mocha Frappuccino® looked like a cross between ice cream (a kid's favorite treat) and coffee (an adult's favorite treat), so I ordered a "large" (and showed my n00b colors) and it was love at first slurp. Eventually I realized that Starbucks didn't own the market on the chocolate/coffee combo; that cafè mochas are actually a staple on most coffee house menus, and generally taste the same from place to place, making them always a "safe bet".

I could have easily gone out to grab a mocha latte today, a chocolate/coffee milkshake, a mocha truffle, or even a mocha flavored cupcake (because all of those seem readily available now, and today's food holiday doesn't specifically state in what form you need to consume your mocha), but instead I needed something a little bit simpler (and my hips needed a break from the constant calorie intake) like a mocha-flavored yogurt!

Happy National Mocha Day!
