National Vodka Day

“Money, like vodka, turns a person into an eccentric.” - Anton Chekhov

It's National Vodka Day!

It's clear, it's odorless, and it's mostly tasteless (though purists and aficionados would disagree) making it one of the most easy to drink boozes there is, although it was originally used as medicine for both internal and topical ailments. Vodka - which literally translates to "water" in Russian - is a distilled spirit made from fermentable material like corn, rye, wheat, potatoes, beets, etc. It's considered one of the purest drinks in the world because it contains less fusel oils than other adult beverages do.

And now you're all the wiser, lushes!

How will you celebrate today? With a Bloody Mary (tomato juice and vodka)? A Cosmopolitan (cointreau, cranberry juice, vodka)? A Kamikaze (triple sec, lime juice, vodka)? A Screwdriver (oj and vodka)? A Cape Cod (cranberry juice and vodka)? A Moscow Mule (ginger beer, lime juice, vodka)? Sex on the Beach (peach schnapps, creme de cassis, oj, cranberry juice, vodka)?

Or why not use today as an opportunity to try any number of the flavored options now available like whipped cream, cake, marshmallow, cookie dough, cotton candy, blueberry, grape, pomegranate, bubblegum, maple syrup, lemonade...

Y'know, I might just try them all.

Happy National Vodka Day!
