It's Cook Something Bold and Pungent Day!

Today's food holiday was created by Tom and Ruth Roy of According to their website, today is the perfect opportunity to cook something deliciously, invitingly pungent and bold so the smell permeates our homes, many of which may have been closed up in the preparation for winter (ours haven't yet... we just had another 60 degree day this week!).

So, what's on your menu tonight? Perhaps something with hot peppers or sauerkraut? Maybe some fish? What about cheeses like blue, Limburger, or Taleggio (yes, please)? What other foods are "bold" or "pungent" in your opinion?

For today, I made one of my favorite winter-y dishes: vegan red lentil stew. It starts with three of the most pungent and bold ingredients there are in my opinion, especially when sauteed together!: onion, garlic, and ginger.
