Beaujolais Nouveau Day

"Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé! (the new beaujolais has arrived!)" - former slogan
"It's Beaujolais Nouveau time." - current slogan

It's Beaujolais Nouveau Day!
(Please note: this is a floating food holiday. It occurs on the third Thursday of November each year.)

Today is taken very seriously in parts of the world, especially in France. Beaujolais Nouveau is a young wine made specifically from the Gamay grape that grows in the southern region of Burgundy in the Beaujolais province of the French countryside. It's law that each year's vintage wine may not be released until after midnight each third Thursday of November after some serious fanfare including fireworks, music, and other hoopla. Midnight oh' one and nearly millions of bottles are sent throughout the world to be intensely enjoyed for the remainder of the evening, the following day, and (if you live stateside) through Thanksgiving as well.

And now you're all the wiser, foodies.

Happy Beaujolais Nouveau Day!
