National Leftovers Day

“Leftovers in their less visible form are called memories. Stored in the refrigerator of the mind and the cupboard of the heart." - Thomas Fuller

It's National Leftovers Day!
(Please note: this is a floating food holiday. It occurs on the fourth Friday of November, or the day after Thanksgiving, each year.)

So today can get a little confusing if you're not paying attention. It's always celebrated the day after Thanksgiving (or Black Friday). Usually that makes it the fourth Friday of November; sometimes, like in 2002, 2013, and 2019, however, that makes it the fifth Friday in November (the years when Thanksgiving is exceptionally late in the month). Got it?

Today is pretty straight forward: undoubtedly, you have some food leftover from yesterday's feast (I mean, isn't that one of the best parts about Thanksgiving? Cold leftovers?). Now's the time to enjoy them! So make a second meal out of your remaining turkey, stuffing, mashed taters, cranberry sauce, etc, or turn them into a sandwich, soup, fritters, or pizza!

You might just want to keep the antacids on standby, though!

Happy National Leftovers Day!
