National Parfait Day

It's National Parfait Day!

If the chocolate parfait gets its own food holiday on May 1st, and the strawberry parfait gets its own on June 25th, then it only makes sense that the parfait itself gets one, too!

A parfait, which translates to "perfect" in French, can be made-up of just about anything these days - ice cream, frozen custard, yogurt, whipped cream, granola, fruit, nuts, or even potatoes (I'm sure you've seen 'em before: meat parfaits made up with layers of pulled pork, mashed potatoes, gravy or BBQ sauce, all topped with a cherry!). It's a term that's been used since the late 1800's to describe frozen desserts made with sugar, egg, and cream.
