National Eat a Red Apple Day

“We all want the shining red apple, but sometimes we got to settle for what’s on the lower branch, or in some cases we take what’s lying on the ground.” Charlie, “Two and a Half Men”

It's National Eat a Red Apple Day!

(Fun fact: Today's picture looks an awful lot like a photo I took in January. Totally unintentional, by the way. Funny how the mind works, I guess...)

I'm convinced today was conceived by the wicked stepmother from Snow White.

So, here's my PSA for today: don't take or eat an apple given to you by a stranger. I know it's the holiday season and it might seem like some gnarly old lady is just being nice by forcing her way into your home and shoving produce in your face... but she's got an agenda (and it involves stealing your youth).

I like "red"-ish colored apples like Jazz (that's what this one is), Pink Lady, Cortland, Autumn Glory, Honeycrisp, etc. But I don't like actual Red Delicious. Funny enough, they are my least favorite variety of apple. So much so that - despite apples being one of my favorite things about life - if my only option is a Red Delicious... I'll pass thanks.

(Much like Snow White should have!)

Happy National Eat a Red Apple Day!
