International Ice Cream for Breakfast Day

"I had always thought that once you grew up you could do anything you wanted - stay up all night or eat ice-cream straight out of the container." - Bill Bryson

It's International Ice Cream for Breakfast Day!
(Please note: this is a floating food holiday. It usually occurs on the first Saturday of February each year.)

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day...

And is there any better way to start a brand new day then with a giant bowl of ice cream?

I think not.

Now, unless you're an uber late sleeper, be sure to stock up on your favorite flavor the night before since most ice cream places don't open first thing in the A.M. For an extra authentic experience, enjoy your bowl of chocolate, pistachio, or tutti frutti in bed or curled up on the couch watching morning cartoons (or whatever show it is your binge watching these days...for me, it's Grey's Anatomy).

Truthfully, a lot of companies use this food holiday as a way to raise money for kid-based charities. According to the International Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day website, the day was created by the parents of two kids named Ruth and Joe as a way to help prevent boredom during the long, harsh upstate New York winters. As Ruth and Joe grew-up, they kept the tradition alive and now loads of people throughout the country annually celebrate!

And now you're all the wiser, foodies!

So... what's your perfect (breakfast) flavor?

Happy International Ice Cream for Breakfast Day!
